What remains

The legacy of Eugène Prévost

Status: Pre-production completed - Preparing to shoot

“Eugène Prévost's family is fighting for his memory to be recognized, while first-hand witnesses are disappearing and his son René's 800-page book remains the most complete record of his life.

Ce qui demeure is a 75-minute feature-length documentary that questions what a life leaves behind in a family, a company and a community, but also what Quebec chooses to remember or forget. Eugène Prévost, founder of Prevost, now recognized throughout North America, played a major role in his community, but his name is little known here today.

The film is based on testimonies gathered in this emergency, crossing the family's quest, the viewpoints of entrepreneurs who reflect on his career, and historian Denis Angers' exchanges with a class of young people. Mute illustrative passages extend the narratives, like embodied memories where past and present coexist.

A film about the memory of a territory, about what persists when voices fade away, and about the invisible traces left by a life.”
