Sugar cube

Directed by : Jean-Philippe Nadeau-Marcoux
2023 / Quebec, Canada / 22 min / French

Synopsis:
In 1918, during the Great Conscription, a group of French-Canadian resistance fighters rise up against the Canadian government, leading to civil war. During a firing squad, officer Winston Gottinham must deal with the disobedience of his soldiers. He is faced with a moral dilemma: punish their refusal or understand their motives. This intense, moving film questions the nature of obedience, sacrifice and justice in the context of war.

Postproduction :
Maxel Films handled the color-grading and colorimetry for Le Cube de Sucre in collaboration with the ACIC/ONF program, an initiative that enhances the visual aspect of the film while supporting independent productions.
